Pillars of Health 5: Social Media: Part 2

As people use social media more and more, we see increasing rates of anxiety and depression, and worsening problems with sleep, particularly in teens.  Social media can clearly become a problem.  It is best for people of all ages to use it sparingly, and remember that we relate best to people when we are right there with them.  To help with this, set aside limited times for social media use, and resist the urge to pull out your phone when you’re with others.  If you have to bring out the phone, use it only for what is necessary.  If you have kids, get them a phone only when they are older, and restrict access to social media apps.  Just remember, the better way to socialize is without the electronic device between you and the other person.
