Pillars of Health 3 : Sleep

“I’ll catch up on sleep next week”.  How many times have any of said or thought that, or worse, actually tried that?  During my many years in higher education, I often lived that.  It speaks volumes about we often think of sleep as a luxury, when in fact good sleep is a critical foundation of health.  In spite of what we may claim, we actually don’t function at our peak when we are sleep deprived.  The longer that deprivation goes on, the worse things get.  We all have stories we can tell about what we accomplished on very little sleep, but we often miss the real accomplishment - that we didn’t hurt ourselves or others, or worse.  In the coming days, we’ll talk more about how sleep is critical for us, and what we can do to try to improve our sleep.
