Exercise and Diabetes
I’m sure all people with type 2 diabetes have been told at some point by a physician, nurse practitioner, or PA to start exercising. Regular exercise, both aerobic and weight training, improve insulin sensitivity in the body, which addresses fundamental issues in type 2 diabetes. Regular exercise can also lead to weight loss which will also improve insulin sensitivity. This improvement can lead people to a point that they can decrease doses or even stop some of their diabetic medications. Exercise is one of 2 fundamental tools for preventing and treating diabetes, and every diabetic that is capable of exercising should be exercising.
Remember: before starting an exercise program, talk with your doctor first.
