Chronic distress increases inflammation, impairs immune function, increases appetite which can lead to weight gain, increases blood sugar and cholesterol levels, increases blood pressure, slows wound healing, and increases our perception of pain.  Some of these are just symptoms of an underlying problem, but some like the increase in blood sugar and the increase in blood pressure can become chronic medical problems in their own right.  We’ll dig into this more in the coming days.
