Low Intensity Exercise

Low intensity exercise gets your heart rate up to about 60-70% of its maximum heart rate, and can be maintained for a relatively long period of time.  As mentioned previously, walking is a great example of this.  If you haven’t been exercising, this is a good place to start.  Start by walking about 15-20 minutes, and gradually increase that time over the following weeks until you are walking about an hour.  Running, cycling, and swimming are great examples, as well.  Whatever you choose to do, do them consistently, 3-5 days a week.

Remember: before starting an exercise program, talk with your doctor first.
