My Journey

I was active in my younger years, but that fell away when I started medical school.  Any exercise I did after that lasted only for half a year at most.  I finally realized I needed to start exercising regularly.  I started a Cross Fit type of program and stuck with that for a year and a half.  When that ended, I started running.  I was getting tired of that, when a friend suggested I enter a race, so I did.  I ran the Pump N Run at the Billings Zoo in 2018.  After completing that, I started training for a 10K race.  During that training program, I decided to compete in a sprint triathlon.  I trained and trained, and completed the Cactus Man in 2019.  Later that year, I did the Race Montana sprint triathlon in Great Falls, MT.  Since then, I’ve raced Cactus Man again, have continued running, and started weight lifting again.  I’ve had some injuries, but I get back into my routine when I’ve healed up.  I have been more consistent with my exercise in the last 5 years than anytime in my life, even when I played basketball and tennis in high school.  I enjoy exercising now, and it has become easy to get up early every morning to do it.

Remember: before starting an exercise program, talk with your doctor first.
